Projekter om historieundervisning i Europarådet og EU

2 Council of Europe …following the decision taken by the Steering Committee for Education Policy and Practice (CDPPE) in March 2015, the first regional seminar of the Council of Europe Intergovernmental Project Educating for Diversity and Democracy: teaching history in contemporary Europe will take place on 1-2 June 2016 in Tallinn University (Estonia).

3 Council of Europe ‘The (...) project is aimed at responding directly to the main present-day challenges with a view to developing policy recommendations on how to teach history for strengthening diverse inclusive democratic societies.’ ... ‘But, most importantly, the final beneficiaries at whom the project is aimed are the young people of Europe. The proposed project seeks to ensure that they will gain not only the insights that a quality history education can give, but also the benefits of being part of more inclusive and tolerant diverse societies.’

called for actions at all levels to reinforce the role of education in promoting citizenship and the common values of freedom, tolerance and non-discrimination, strengthening social cohesion and helping young people become responsible, open-minded and active members of our diverse and inclusive society.’

6 The Helsingor Declaration 22 April, 2015 ‘EUROCLIO, with all our member associations in all EU Member States and beyond, remains deeply committed to support actions and initiatives in the field of education that help European societies face the challenges posed by extremism, inequality, intolerance and discrimination through the promotion of citizenship and common values.’

8 European Parliament, Committee on Culture and Education REPORT on the role of intercultural dialogue, cultural diversity and education in promoting EU fundamental values (2015/2139(INI)) ‘It should also be acknowledged that migratory peoples bring with them skills, knowledge, ideas, new approaches, entrepreneurship and cultural practices that enrich the social fabric of the communities they become part of, and that migration is part of our cultural heritage.’

9 Tibor Navracsics, Member of the Commission ‘This is precisely the point of the Paris Declaration which the Education Ministers and myself endorsed in March last year. To follow up on this declaration with concrete actions is a key priority for me.’ ‘Projects linked to equity, inclusion and non-discrimination will be substantially reinforced. In 2016, EUR 400 million will be spent on transnational projects which will … promote the integration of newly arrived migrants. In addition, a specific call will soon be released with a budget of EUR 13 million to disseminate good practices in the field of inclusion, anti-radicalisation and integration of migrants.’
