Help students gain valuable tools to be successful in the future
Unite students with peers, faculty, and professional organizations
Help students realize the importance of professional development and involvement in the field of physical education outside of the classroom

6. What we do
Hold meetings once month to update members about what’s going on
Set up activities for members to attend to build relationships with others in the field
Goal is to bring in speakers to many meetings to give them more of a purpose.
Participate in community events
Serve as a voice between students and the faculty

7. Upcoming events Meeting Times: Monday’s at 7 PM
Tailgating The first home football game
Saturday September 24th
Game starts at 1:00 pm
Tailgate at 11:00 am
Bring your own drinks and a dish to pass
Put your dish to pass on the Facebook group
Car Pool will be available starting at 11:00 am in front of Towers North.

9. WHPE Conference October 26th through the 28th.
The deadline to pre register is October 5th
Pre registration cost $35.00
On site registration is $45.00
We will have a SHAPE meeting later in early October to discuss plans in detail.

12. Longfellow Volunteer Opportunities
Get Movin’ Marathon- Thursday Oct. 13th 8:45-11:45 a.m. and/or 1:00-3:30 pm
Longfellow fundraiser consisting of 12 stations, each student participates in each station. Volunteers help run/chaperone a station and cheer on the kids.
McDonough Mile – Tuesday Oct. 25th 3:45-5:30
Mile run for all 4th and 5th Grade Longfellow students
Volunteers run with the kids
Also need for volunteers to stand on the course and help guide runners

13. Longfellow Volunteer Opportunities
Buddy Mentor Program
Serve as a buddy to one of the after school kids.
Spend ½ hour on homework and ½ hour playing and getting to know your buddy.
Begins Tues. Oct. 4th from 4:00-5:00 and goes every other Tuesday until Dec. 8th.
Blazing Lions
Running group of 4th and 5th graders that train during noon lunch time.
Train for 5k Puddle Jump in April.
Can help with training over the noon recess hours
Pace buddy on the day of the race

14. Longfellow Volunteer Opportunities
Puddle Jump – Saturday April 21st
Longfellow’s 5K fun run/walk – need volunteers to serve as marshals
We would like to get a team together to take part in the run as well.

15. Soles for Souls Shoe drive
Collect any type of shoe to give to those in need.
Some are used here in the US while some will be shipped over seas.
Need a committee to help organize this.
