History of Àkura Àkura is a school management system initially developed for St. Joseph’s College, Colombo, Sri Lanka. To meet the increasing demand, Àkura was released as a free, open source software, enabling other schools to download and install Àkura at no cost. Àkura was uploaded to SourceForge.net on 14th February 2012, making it available globally. Àkura software was developed by Virtusa Inc. and released as an open-source project under GPL license. Aspitio (Pvt.) Ltd. has incorporated and enhanced the base Àkura software and new key features of the Àkura product have been developed by Aspitio. The base product is powered by Virtusa. Aspitio will now be the contributor, implementer and support provider for this software going forward. Aspitio acquired Àkura from Virtusa on the June 19th 2017.

ÀKURA Main Modules Reference module: The core module that links all other modules in ÀKURA. School module: Maintains school details. Student module: Tracks student's profile information, academic life, extracurricular activities and attendance. Staff module: Enables academic staff to enter marks, manage exams and easily generate various types of reports. Reporting module: Generates various customized reports related to students and teachers. Attendance module: Manages attendance of students and staff members. User Management module: Manages user log-in for parents, staff, administrators and students with customizable role privileges. Assigns privileges for pre-defined roles to carry out relevant operations. Parent portal module: Allows parents to log-in and view their children's information anytime. SMS module: Enables the school to send text messages to the entire school community, or to predefined subgroups, regarding student attendance, disciplinary actions and emergencies.

Reference Module The Reference Module maintains master data.
A user with privileges can manage/enter master data using the links.

Management of User Roles/System Users
Allows the administrator to create and maintain user roles and system users.

Student Search Allows the user to search for students and to edit student details or to delete the student record.

Student Details Allows the users to add/edit student details.

Academic Life Allows the user to add, edit and delete prefect details, scholarship details, academic achievements and attended seminars.

Student Attendance Allows the user to search and view a student’s attendance details.

Student Leave Allows the user to add, edit and delete student absence details.

Parent Details Allows the user to add/edit parent/guardian details and to add/edit/delete donations given by a selected student.

Staff Search Allows the user to search for staff members and to edit staff member details or to delete the staff member record.

The report produces an evaluation of the marks obtained by the students of a selected class.
