1 There’s Something About St. Mary!
What was Holy Mary really like? Powerpoint Paradise.com “MYSTERIES OF THE UNIVERSE” SERIES Copyright © 2007 Powerpoint Paradise. All Rights Reserved New King James Version

2 If we like to find out the wonderful facts about Mother Mary’s life…
We must look to the best source! But which one? Tradition? Or the Bible? Of course we should always look to the Word of God! The Only Source of True Christianity!

3 Who is the ultimate authority of the Bible?
Church traditions? Or Jesus Christ, the Word of God? The Word of God of course! So what does THE WORD say about Jesus’ mother? How does It treat her?

4 God chose a very special girl! Mary!
Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. Then said Mary to the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? And the angel answered & said to her,… The Holy Ghost shall come on thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. Luke 1:26. “In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, 27. To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. 28 And the angel came in unto her, and said,

5 Mary was an immaculate virgin!
Luke 1:38 And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to your word. And the angel departed from her.

6 After conception… Mary immediately left home!
So NO ONE could claim that Joseph was the father! 39 And Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Juda; 40 And entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth.

7 Mat. 1:18 “Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise:
When as His mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, BEFORE they CAME TOGETHER…” she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. The Word states here as fact that they actually “CAME TOGETHER” [meaning intercourse] AFTER Jesus was born! Lets see if this fits the Word evidence.

8 Mary was a virgin until after Jesus’ birth.
A fulfilment of what God predicted in the Old testament: Matt. 1:23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. Mary was a virgin until after Jesus’ birth.

9 Let’s see what the Gospel says…
But afterwards…was she still a virgin??? Did Mary & Josef make love? And have other children ? Let’s see what the Gospel says… Fast forward … 30 years later …

10 2 And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage.
When Jesus was at a wedding, St. Mary put Jesus on the spot to create wine for a party From experience Mother Mary knew, that whenever she needed something she could always ask Jesus! Yet privately! 1 There was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there: 2 And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage. 3 And when they lacked wine, the mother of Jesus said to him, ‘They have no wine.’

11 Was Mary a bit forceful perhaps?
4 Jesus said to her, ‘Woman, what have I to do with you? My hour is not yet come.‘ 5 His mother said to the servants, ‘Whatsoever he says to you, do it.’ Was Mary a bit forceful perhaps? By doing this, Mary forced Jesus into His public ministry! Everyone heard about the miracle and came for more!

12 After Jesus had turned the water into wine at Cana, Mary followed Jesus & His disciples!
His brothers!?? John 2:11 This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, & manifested forth his glory; & his disciples believed on him. 12 After this he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, & his brothers, & his disciples.

13 Jesus’ townsmen stated that Jesus had 4 younger brothers and some sisters!
Mark 6:3 “Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? And are not his sisters here with us?” And they were offended at him.

14 So Mary must have had at least 6 other children
So Mary must have had at least 6 other children!!! – And thus no longer … a virgin! Four brothers and at least 2 sisters makes six, plus Jesus as oldest brother makes 7! And did you know that at first, his brothers did not even believe in him?

15 5. For neither did his brothers believe in him.
Some say that “His brothers” meant “His disciples”! But in John 7:3 His brothers mention His disciples! John 7:2. Now the Jews' feast of tabernacles was at hand. 3. His brothers therefore said to him, Depart hence, and go into Judaea, that your disciples also may see the works that you do. 4. For there is no man that does any thing in secret, and he himself seeks to be known openly. If you do these things, show yourself to the world. 5. For neither did his brothers believe in him. If John meant disciples, how come they didn’t “believe?”

16 Mary the mother of James the less & of Joses!
Mary, present at the cross, was mentioned second & twice as “mother of James & Joses!” Mat. 27:55 “many women were there watching afar off, which followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering unto him: 56 Among which was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of Zebedee's children. (Jesus’ disciples John & James were the sons of Zebedee!) Mark 15:40 also says: “There were also women looking on afar off: among whom was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the less and of Joses, and Salome Mary the mother of James the less & of Joses!

17 Why didn’t they call her the Mother of Jesus? Or God !
Mark mentions Mary, present at the burial, second, as “mother of Joses”! Why didn’t they call her the Mother of Jesus? Or God ! Mark 15:47 And Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses beheld where he was laid.

18 Why was the Mother of God not mentioned first? But second?
Mark 16:1 “And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.”

19 Also Matthew mentions Mary second!
Matthew 28:1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. Mary Magdalene is mentioned first and then “the other Mary”, not even mentioning it was Jesus’ mother!

20 And why did they call the mother of Jesus, “the other Mary?”
Why did both Mark & Matthew downplay Mother Mary & grant Mary Magdalene first mention? And why did they call the mother of Jesus, “the other Mary?” Were they wrong? Lets see! [According to tradition, this is Mary’s House, where she died. It is outside the city of Ephesus, in Turkey.]

21 To whom did Jesus reveal Himself first, after His resurrection?
To His Mother? No! To Mary Magdalene! Why not to Mother Mary? Was Jesus trying to show perhaps that closeness to Him did not depend on any blood relationship? Nor on His mother??

22 One time, Jesus even totally IGNORED her & his brothers!
Mat. 12: 46 While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood outside, desiring to speak with him. 47 Then one said to him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand outside, desiring to speak with thee. 48 But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? And who are my brethren? 49 And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren! 50 For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

23 Yet Mary prophesied that “all generations shall call me blessed!”
Luke 1:48 For he has regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from now on… ALL generations shall call me blessed. Well that prophecy has certainly been fulfilled. Millions of Christians talk & think, and pray more to Mary than to Jesus Christ Himself! How does that make Him feel??

24 Is that why Jesus put her second to Mary Magdalene?
Mary Magdalene, the “sinner girl”, was honored with the first post resurrection appearance, above everyone else. She put her relationship with Jesus Christ first! And honored Jesus above everything and everyone else.

25 How About You?! Do YOU put a relationship with St. Mary above your relationship with Jesus Christ the Son of God? Matthew 11:28 Come unto ME, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. John 14:6 Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes to the Father, BUT BY ME.

26 My friends! When you are done, let Me
Know OK? Jesus thirsts for a direct relationship with you, are you letting His mother stand in the way of that? He expects us to grow up in our relationship with HIM!

27 Are you afraid of Me, the Son of God?
You feel you need to go through My Mother? He loves you. And he is waiting for you to become His Wife! “Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to HIM: for the MARRIAGE of the Lamb is come, and his WIFE has made herself READY!” Revelation 19:7 I love you! ARE YOU READY FOR ME ? And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that hears say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. Revelation 22:17
