1 Student Profile Assignment
By: Hailey Smith

2 Meet Noah Slaughter “Hi! My name is Noah Slaughter. I love spending my summer going on family vacations and playing with my little sister. I can’t wait until school starts!”

3 First Grader At Last “My birthday is April 5th and I am 6 years old. I love Dyersburg Primary School. I am ready to see all of my classmates and meet my teacher, Ms. Hailey!”

4 My Family “I love my family! My mom is Kendra Watson and my dad is Terrance Slaughter. We do not live together anymore, but we all love each other. My mom and my dad come to parties, events, and even Parent Teacher Conferences together. I have two sisters but they live with my dad and step-mom. My sister, Regan, is 4. She will be in Preschool next year at my school. My other sister, Lily, is too small for school.”

5 Noah’s Stage of Development
Piaget’s Stage Erikson’s Stage Noah is at the end of the Preoperational Stage of Development. When he sees 2 equal amounts of play-dough, he believes that the longer piece has more because of the surface level of the play-dough. Noah is in the Industry vs. Inferiority Stage. His parents are no longer his complete authorities, as they once were, although they are still very important to him. Noah’s learning a lot and gaining more social experience with others.

6 Cognitive Ability Noah is very excited about learning more sight words and reading books everyday. His favorite books are Non-Fiction books about Snakes. He loves writing stories about weekend vacations and enjoys retelling books to the class. Noah is also a very strong student in Math. He can explain how you can exchange coins for different coins to have the same amount of money. “I know that 5 dimes are worth 50 cents because every dime is worth 10 and 5 groups of ten is 50. I also know that 2 quarters is 50 cents, because they are worth 25 cents and 25+25=50.”

7 Physical Ability Noah can write his numbers and letters correctly. He is able to write within the lines and hold his pencil the correct way. Noah understands that it is neat when he colors in the lines. He has endurance and stamina when writing a story and can draw a neat and detailed picture to represent his story.

8 Hobbies Noah is very active and athletic. He enjoys playing outside and playing on his church’s basketball team. He is involved in Tiny Trojan Football and playing his XBOX in his free time. Noah always does his homework and practices books to read to others. Noah is a proficient student!

9 Relationship with Peers
“I like to play with my sister at home. I try to be a role model for her! I love all of my classmates. Everyone is my friend! I like to be funny around my friends and tell jokes. I like to make sure that everyone is nice to each other. I like to play with boys that like the same games as me, but also with all of my friends!

10 Relationship to Parents
Noah has a good relationship to his parents. At this stage in Noah’s life, Noah takes pride in his parents’ opinion, but they are not the only authorities. At this age, Noah’s parents are teaching him some responsibility and the importance of trying his best.

11 Adaptation to Learning
“The Spider and the Fly reminds me of Charlotte’s Web and when we had Farm Day! Charlotte was a spider and she caught flies!” When reading the book about spiders and flys, Noah explains to me that it reminds him of Charlotte’s Webb and Farm Day at our school. He used adaptation to form the existing schema. He assimilated it into his mind by associating the book with another book and experience!

12 Equilibrium Disequilibrium “My favorite time that my teacher made us really think about our lesson was when she acted like she was on the phone and she ordered a pizza. She never said pizza but she made us infer that she was ordering one.” “At the beginning of the lesson, my teacher does “My Favorite No”. This tells us what we will be doing for the day and she helps us find out what we did wrong yesterday.”

13 “With the help of my teacher, my parents, and my school, I will move on to 2nd grade next year a better, more responsible student!”
