4 ECCE Services in Malaysia
ECCE services in Malaysia are classified under two categories, i.e. childcare for younger children aged 0 – 4 years and preschool for children aged 4 – 6 years of age. Three ministries together with the Prime Minister’s department are responsible in the development, care and education of children aged 0 – 6 years of age in Malaysia. The Ministry of Health provides accessible and affordable care through routine visits and examination of children. The Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (MoWFCD) through the Department of Social Welfare is responsible for childcare centres. The Ministry of Education is in charge of preschool education The PERMATA Implementation Council oversees the implementation and action plan of PERMATA programmes including the Anak PERMATA Negara programme.

The Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (MoWFCD) through the Department of Social Welfare CHILDCARE licensing and regulating the setting up of childcare centres, monitoring, and overseeing the expansion of childcare centres coordinates national programmes on the growth and development of children keeps a database on all childcare centres

6 ECCE Services in Malaysia
The Ministry of Education (MOE) PRESCHOOL incharge of preschool education and ensures quality assurance enforces the use of the National Preschool Standards-Based Curriculum monitoring, licensing as well as regulating the setting up and administration of registered preschools Provider – MOE, Department of Community Development, Department of National Unity and Integration, Private sector, State Religious Department and the Malaysian Islamic Youth
