Globalisation

It is difficult to find a clear definition of the term 'globalisation' but it is clear that it is associated with particular characteristics; the following is a list of some of those characteristics: Growth in technology Corporate expansion Trade issues (exports and imports/ choice) Poverty and inequality Impact on the environment Brand expansion and recognition Economic growth (employment etc..)

Task: mini-lessons Conduct some research into either the costs or the benefits of globalisation. You should aim to use examples of actual scenarios wherever possible. You should aim to give a presentation lasting approximately 10 minutes outlining your case. Research is to be conducted during your lesson on Monday 11th February and to be presented in class on Thursday 15th February.

Hints: Does globalisation create or reduce employment?
How does it affect demand for natural resources? What does it mean for consumer choice? What might be the environmental issues created? Exploitation? Do poorer countries benefit in the same way as more developed economies?
