1 Project Status Update IIT Kharagpur
REINVEST Meeting University of Sheffield Dec 5-7, 2016 Akhilesh Kumar, PhD Assistant Professor Dept. of Industrial & Systems Engineering

2 Outline  Research Activities  Industry Interactions  Common Working Platform  Sustainable Omni Channel Delivery Network  Dissemination Activities

3 Research Activities Title Problem Description/Features
Modeling and Solution Approach Status Multi-objective approach to resolve sustainable ship routing and scheduling problem with draft restrictions Maritime transportation ship-routing, time window, discrete planning horizon, loading/unloading operation, slow steaming policy, carbon emission and vessel’s draft restriction to maintain safety at a port A mixed integer non-linear programming (MINLP) model Non-Dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm II (NSGA-II) and Multi-Objective Particle Swarm Optimization (MOPSO) is employed to solve the multi- objective mathematical formulation. IEEE Transaction on Engg. Management Multi Period Green Reverse Logistics Network Design with Vehicle Routing A bottle remanufacturing A profit maximization modeling framework for green reverse logistics with vehicle routing in dynamic setting A mixed-integer linear programming formulation for proposed model Solved using CPLEX and relevant managerial insights Submitted to International Journal of Production Economics Truck packing cost minimisation along with carbon emission reduction A cost minimization problem for FMCG’s for transportation of goods Weight, volume, demand of each products and hiring costs, carbon emissions, weight and volume constraints of the freight carriers available. Multi-Objective Programming (MOP) model with cost and carbon emission reduction A two stage approach of NSGA-II + Co-Kriging Work-In-Progress

4  O9 Solutions, Bangalore
Industry Interaction  O9 Solutions, Bangalore  A study has been carried out on Allocations In Multistage Customer Hierarchies  A PG student did his summer internship at o9 Solution  JDA, Bangalore  Designing Distribution network for Omni-Channel Fulfilment  A conference paper presentation at POMS conference at SP Jain Institute of Management Research, Mumbai  A strategic retail analytics framework development underway

5 REINVEST Website - Update
 Developed a dynamic website and running at project.eu  We have shared with each partner the respective login-ID and password for the above mentioned website  The website is loaded with features mainly taking into account the appearance, user experience, and search engine optimization  Inputs/Suggestion

6 Multi-Channel Regional Forw rd
Omni Channel Website Stores & Branches Smart Phone Catalogs Order from Anywhere Call Center Digital Wall Distribution Centers: eCommerce Retail Wholesale Multi-Channel Regional Forw rd Customer Fulfill from Anywhere Vending VMI/CMI/POS Stores & Br nches 3PL Drop-Ship Designing DCs for Omni-channel Fulfillment

7 The DSS Sustainable Omni Channel Delivery Network Know customers
Know demand Know real time sales The number location Size of stores Delivery slots for the customers Fleet size and type Delivery Type: Attended Home/Pick-up Replenishment deliveries to the store Analytics Vehicle Routing P-median Revenue Management

8 Omni Channel Retail Analytics
How a retailer can use its wealth of data to forecast demand, optimize vehicle routing problem, delivery and warehousing decisions and also exploit to identify root cause of problems Raw Data from ERP Customer Data hierarchy at different SKU level nodes/level(SKU) Relevant business questions that can be answered? How good is existing demand forecast at each level. Whether some level of aggregation or disaggregation can be achieved at any level? Capturing bullwhip effect by analyzing demand vs return data? Optimal retail store density and warehouse density? Optimal Vehicle routing? Options for investing in green supply chain technology to reduce carbon footprint?

9 Dissemination Activities
 Prof. Manoj Kumar Tiwari and Dr. Akhilesh Kumar attended a workshop on REINVEST PROJECT held at IIT Delhi and Mumbai  Prof. Manoj Kumar Tiwari attended 3rd International Conference on Green Supply Chain held at Loughborough University, London Campus, UK  Dr. Akhilesh Kumar presented a paper at POMS conference at SP Jain Institute of Management Research, Mumbai

10 Future Plans  Workshop at IIT Kharagpur during Summer 2017

11 Thank You!!!
