6 ORIGINAL SIN Refers to the personal sin of the first two people, called Adam and Eve, which in an analogous way, describes the fallen state of human nature into which all generations of people are born. Adam and Eve transmitted Original Sin to their human descendants. Christ Jesus came to save the world from Original Sin and all personal sin. Original sin Baptism Concupiscence Salvation Divine Revelation

7 CONCUPISCENCE Human appetites or desires which remain disordered due to the temporal consequences of Original Sin, which remain even after Baptism, and which produce an inclination to sin. "God did not make death, and he does not delight in the death of the living. . . It was the devil's envy that death entered the world” (Wis 1:13; 2:24)(CCC 413) Divine Revelation

The Paschal Mystery The redemptive Passion, Death, Resurrection, and glorious Ascension of Jesus Christ through which Jesus not only liberated humans from sin, but also gave them new life through his Resurrection Christ’s Dying on the Cross Christ’s Resurrection Christ liberates us from sin. (CCC, 654) Christ opens for us the way to a new life. This new life is above all justification that reinstates us in God’s grace. (CCC, 654) Jesus Christ: The Fullness of Revelation

12 Theological Virtues FAITH CHARITY HOPE
Three foundational virtues that are infused by God into the souls of the faithful: faith (belief in, and personal knowledge of, God), hope (trust in God’s salvation and his bestowal of the graces needed to attain it), and charity (love of God and love of neighbor as oneself). FAITH CHARITY HOPE And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love. (1 Cor 13:13) Christian Faith: The Response to God’s Revelation

Christian Faith: The Response to God’s Revelation

15 BODY OF CHRIST Saints in Heaven Souls in Purgatory
As a body is one though it has many parts, and all the parts of the body, though many, are one body, so also Christ. For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, slaves or free persons, and we were all given to drink of one Spirit. (1 Cor 12:12-13) Souls in Purgatory Faithful living on Earth Jesus Christ Founded the Church

16 MARKS OF THE CHURCH ONE CATHOLIC HOLY APOSTOLIC
What are good techniques for healing divisions and bringing unity? How could these techniques apply to healing divisions within the Church and among all Christians? Jesus said, “Go and make disciples of all nations” (cf. Mt 28:19) How does this command apply to you? Describe the holiest person you have ever known. Explain why it is so important that the pope can trace his office back to St. Peter. Jesus Christ Founded the Church

17 PETITIONS TO GOD Pray for the Kingdom.
Pray for what is necessary to welcome it. Pray for cooperation with the coming kingdom. Christian petition is centered on the desire and search for the Kingdom to come, in keeping with the teaching of Christ. There is a hierarchy in these petitions: we pray first for the Kingdom, then for what is necessary to welcome it and cooperate with its coming. This collaboration with the mission of Christ and the Holy Spirit, which is now that of the Church, is the object of the prayer of the apostolic community. (CCC , 2632) Review
