6 Young Adolf Hitler Adolf Hitler was born on April 20th 1889 in Austria. Mother was Klara Hitler Father was Alois Hitler He had four brothers and sisters. All died except his sister who outlived him

11 Hitler the Hobo In 1909, he moved to Vienna in the hope of somehow earning a living. Within a year he was living in homeless shelters and eating at charity soup-kitchens. He had declined to take regular employment and took occasional odd jobs and sold some of his paintings.

In 1913 Adolf Hitler, still a penniless vagrant, moved to Munich in southern Germany. At the outbreak of the First World War, in 1914, he volunteered for service in the German army. Hitler was a dispatch carrier. fought bravely in the war and was promoted to corporal and decorated with both the Iron Cross Second Class and First Class, the latter of which he wore until his dying day [ironically the regimental captain who recommended him for the award was Jewish].

Hitler joins the German’s Worker Party (an upstart German political party.) On April 1st 1920 the party changed to the National Socialist German Workers Party (or Nazi for short).

Hitler rejoins the Nazi Party as their leader. He takes advantage of the economic crisis (depression). WWI has destroyed the German economy. He planned to use democracy to destroy democracy!

In 1932, the Nazis gain a political majority in Congress. On January 30, 1933, Hitler was legally appointed ruler of Germany. The following year, he dissolved the government. Hitler is now dictator of Germany!
