8. Age Profile / Demographics
During 2016, the West Glasgow MIU had 11,200 attendances. The total number of attendances from the West ‘catchment area’ in all of the MIU/A&E facilities was 41,700..
The age profile is broadly similar with the main difference being the under 16 years.
Analysis of transfers from West MIU to other facilities during 2016 was 6% of total attendances.
439 went to the QEUH, 210 went to the RHC, small number went to GRI. 9

Average attendances to all hospitals from this area within GG&C were 587 per week, with a slight fall observable following the closure of the West MIU to an average of 525.
