1 The Power Of Family Units
TANU CHOKSI The Power Of Family Units

2 What Makes A Family? A family: A unit of two or more people living together, having legal or biological relations. When you describe your family like that, you need family counseling . A family is a power unit of strength. If anything goes wrong in your life you can count on them for shelter, protection, warmth, love and a sense of belonging. Being unable to identify with that does not mean your family is not a real family, it just means you need help and family counseling to regain those open channels of communication and love.

3 Family Problems There could be a multitude of reasons as to why any family might be facing problems. Inability to speak to each other, inability to trust one another, inability to connect with one another. This could be caused due to endless things such as- Misbehaving spouse, misbehaving children, a family member who may have a mental health issue which is now overflowing onto other members of the family, a family member that indulges in substance abuse. All of this can be worked around through family counseling .

4 Married Couple Failures
Sometimes a family falls apart because of it’s foundation pillars. This means, couple therapy is required. When two individuals are considered to uphold a family, but they themselves are fighting due to trivial reasons, it is important to bring these issues to light if both are willing to work upon it for the sake of their family. It is however, important to stress on this point. Both members must be equally willing to participate in couple therapy otherwise it would be a futile effort to fix things on a one-sided basis and may only make matters worse.

5 Couple Therapy In a marriage, you are still two individuals with two independent lives and need to respect this thought. Couple therapy can help you with: Improved communication with one another. Better understanding of one another. A space where both points of view are taken into consideration in order to work out a solution or compromise that both members of the relationship are comfortable with.

6 Role of the therapist Whether you require couple therapy or family counseling ; the role of the therapist is to provide: Non-judgmental Non-biased External, third party, professional views on personal problems. They analyze each and every person’s issue and go to the root cause of what is causing toxicity within the family. These problems are listed down and suitable control measures are selected by the entire family unit as a whole, in agreement, in order to make things work.
