5. How do I find a Job?
Advertised vacancies – use different sites, specialist, QMUL Careers, general local ‘papers’
Social Media, LinkedIn, Twitter
Speculative applications
Word of Mouth, networks

6. What are the best place to look for advertised jobs?
Sources – sector-specific websites, locally-focused job sites, QMUL Careers job pages.

8. Which sectors employ SBM students?
Aim – to get students to think about the different job sectors – help with narrowing down job ads and also not being too narrow minded.

9. Speculative approaches
Work well if you hear someone might be hiring
Find a mentor and get introductions to their networks. (try to make approaches)
Approach companies for a short burst of work-shadowing.
Cold approaches can work and are more common in areas such as PR/start-ups

11. Making an approach
I am a Queen Mary University alumna and gained a Law Degree LLB in I qualified as a Solicitor Advocate and I am now transitioning to become a Careers Consultant. I write to request a work placement within the Careers and Enterprise department.
