4 Reaching Your SMART Goals
One Step at a Time Develop a clear, realistic goal. List steps for reaching the goal. Describe when you will act on the steps. List any materials you will need. Name people who can help. Monitor your progress and make changes if you need to. Evaluate whether or not the goal was met. Optional – Use slide or poster

5 Example goals I would like to get 60 minutes of physical activity each day. I would like to lose 10 pounds. I would like to gain 10 pounds. I would like to get all A’s & B’s this term. I would like to get 8 hours of sleep each night.

6 MY TARGET DATE IS: What is your deadline to have achieved your goal?
Remember achievable—do not set yourself up to not make it from the start

7 TO REACH MY GOAL I WILL DO THESE 3 THINGS:
Set up a 3 step plan that will break things down so it is easier to achieve the goal Example for weight loss Eat a healthy diet that follows “myplate” standards Plan meals in advance so that I am not hungry and just grabbing something unhealthy. Increase my level of physical activity to help burn more calories consumed

8 TO REACH MY GOAL I WILL DO THESE 3 THINGS:
Example getting 8 hours of sleep per night Get homework done right after school or utilize class time to get as much done as possible Shower before bed to relax Put electronics away at 9:30 pm and go to bed at 10 pm

9 2 THINGS THAT WILL HELP ME STICK TO REACHING MY GOAL ARE:
Think about the supports that you have in place or could put into place to help achieve your goal. Ideas: Telling people the goal you have set Physical activity—workout partner Grades—help from teachers, tutoring Sleep—charging your phone at night across the room, putting it on silent

10 I WILL KNOW I HAVE REACHED MY GOAL BECAUSE:
How are you going to measure that you have reached your goal? Ideas: Exercise log to keep track of physical activity Scale or how your clothes fit Illuminate to monitor grades/report card
