Neamț  is a county of Romania, in the historic region of Moldavia.
In 2011, it had a population of 452,900 and a population density of 76.81/km².

Moldavia is situated in the eastern part of Romania.
Piatra-Neamţ is the capital city of Neamţ County, in the historical region of   Moldavia.

The town had other name, like: 
Camena ( Stone in Paleoslavonic);
Piatra lui Crăciun (Crăciun's Village / Crăciun's Stone, corresponding to the Hungarian name of the city, "Karácson-Kő");
Târgu Piatra (Rock Fair, Rock Market) (in the middle ages);
 Piatra to which was added the county name Neamţ (Neamţ = German), to distinguish it from towns in other counties of the same name.

The city know a period of growth during the time of Stephen the Great, in the XV century, when he build “The Princely Court”, “The Saint John Princely Church” , “The Bell Tower”-1499.

8. National College "Gh. Asachi" is a  vocational theoretical high school - specializations: pedagogical,  philology, natural sciences, social sciences.
Our students are involved in many extracurricular activities: “ProHistoria” history club, debate club Logos, Eco Patrol (called " Nature’s Reporters "), Photo club, chess club,dance  popular assemblies, the Campaign "Our home Europe". Also, we have teams of handball, basketball, volleyball, cheerleading troup. Students from the pedagogical classes take part in the theatre troup, the puppet troup or the or school choir.
