December 14, Pitt, CCAC, and Pittsburgh Public Schools Join Forces The new Pittsburgh Admissions Collaboration program to create “Panthers in waiting” Contact: Joe Miksch Cell: PITTSBURGH—On Dec. 20, the University of Pittsburgh will officially enter a partnership with the Pittsburgh Public Schools and the Community College of Allegheny County. The program is called the Pittsburgh Admissions Collaboration (PAC). The goal of PAC is to improve educational attainment for Pittsburgh students. The program plans to increase the number of We Promise students who are academically strong and financially supported to attend CCAC with the intention of transferring to Pitt. We Promise is a Pittsburgh Public Schools program that serves African American male students on the cusp of eligibility for The Pittsburgh Promise. The collaboration begins with the Pitt Pathfinders working with 7th and 8th graders to promote college, specifically CCAC enrollment, when they graduate from high school. There will be specific programming during their high school years to keep them engaged with CCAC and Pitt. As they enter CCAC, workshops, advising, and activities will continue to be offered so that the students feel like “Panthers in waiting.” The agenda for the PAC signing is below. Date/Time: Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2016, from 1 to 1:45 p.m. Location: Connolly Ballroom, Alumni Hall, 4227 Fifth Ave., Oakland.
