3 NEIGHBORHOOD SWEEP MISSION
To educate the residents of the importance of keeping the neighborhood clean with hopes of improving the quality of life and pride in the community

4 PROGRAM OVERVIEW Program is simple Motivated team leader is essential
Each resident is provided a bag and encouraged to remove litter in the ditches attached to their property on a specific date Less than a 30 minute commitment After completion of project, litter-filled bags will be collected Data collection Celebrate success

5 BENEFITS OF PROGRAM Program will allow other agencies to clean more hazardous roads and major intersections; local and state government agencies Promote a safe and secure environment for families and future generations Opportunity for citizens to build rapport with neighbors Build support teams that may be advantageous in future emergency situations Opportunity to encourage participants to be more involved in the community

6 PROGRAM STEPS Reach out to a neighborhood in need of beautification or you have received numerous complaints Educate them of litter laws and other environmental issues to encourage residents to participate; letter, educational posters, etc. Establish a motivated team leader to organize event and establish a material drop off/pickup home base Send out success/thank you letter Celebrate and market your celebration; photos of residents is beneficial

Recognition is essential for people to feel wanted, helpful, and important Appreciation through certificates, recognition party, newsletters, newspapers, or other media resources; Facebook, Twitter, etc. Appreciation through thank you letters or postcards Appreciation through a personal phone call or conversation thanking and recognizing those involved
