2 Introduction Exploring contemporary designs for performance ,by researching and discussing design and artists I can explore different technique’s professionals use to present there designs to the general public and if it is successful or not. The areas I will be exploring are; Exhibition work Performance work Studio work Presentation work Official websites Instillation work

3 what you are discussing and why.
key designs bodies of work manifestos texts, live and on-line discussions This will help to form a theoretical, political or philosophical perspective on contemporary design for performance.

4 Context for your discussion
Make / believe Placement Research Personal blogs Achievements Projects/Process’s

5 Tom Piper DESIGN APPROACH
I try always to respond to the needs of the play inspired by the text, to work in a collaborative manner with directors, actors and all theatre artists, and am alive to the inventiveness of rehearsal. After my early training with Peter Brook, I am always looking for ways to create a focussed and charged space, to enhance the actor’s power of storytelling and engage with the imagination of the audience. My extensive work on Shakespeare plays has given me the opportunity to create simple and poetic spaces in which the actors can bring the play to life rather than the design imposing solutions upon them.

6 Alexander Ruth DESIGN APPROACH Alexander Ruth works as a visual artist and designer in various media across the Performing Arts, with a special interest in costume based performance. He has worked as a fashion designer in Paris and London before starting his research and practice in performance. Initially trained at Central Saint Martins and London College of Fashion, Ruth's practice focuses on the performative nature of costumes with a strong research interest in costumes as autonomous art objects, questioning the perception of costumes outside the immediate / alternative performance contexts.

7 Nettie Scriven DESIGN APPROACH
Nettie Scriven is a renowned theatre designer and scenographer. She specialises in creating new work for young people and developing play texts through the design process. She represented Britain at the 1999 Prague Quadrennial. Her latest designs are Gulliver's Travels (Curve Leicester and tour) and Grandpa in my Pocket (Nottingham Playhouse). Nettie was Creative Agent for Creative Partnerships and The Mighty Creatives, developing curricula in schools, and is currently Creative Agent for the Papplewick Pumping Station research project at The University of Nottingham.

8 Key designs

9 theoretical, philosophical, political perspective
Perspective on contemporary design for performance Theoretical - concerned with or involving the theory of a subject or area of study rather than its practical application. Philosophical - relating or devoted to the study of the fundamental nature of knowledge, reality, and existence. Political Perspective- "The key point in thinking about foreign policy decision making from the political perspective is that decisions made by leaders-and organizations -are political in nature.

10 Conclusion Conclusion, discussing what you have learned from the investigation, both the completing of the IRP, but also any thoughts about development for MRP perhaps A brief summary The conclusions Why your research is important  Recommendations for future research  A final paragraph .
