PCNA is an organization for nurses, by nurses, and we wouldn’t be here without you!

2 About PCNA PCNA is the leading nursing organization dedicated to preventing cardiovascular disease through assessing risk, facilitating lifestyle changes and guiding individuals to achieve treatment goals. The mission of PCNA is to develop and promote nurses as leaders in the prevention of cardiovascular disease. The Preventive Cardiovascular Nurses Association was founded in 1993 with the mission “to develop and promote nurses as leaders in the prevention of CVD.” Since then, PCNA has since grown to more than 2,600 members and more than 25 chapters. PCNA works with liaison organizations to produce continuing education and career development programs which have been utilized by over 25,000 members and other healthcare providers. PCNA also develops and provides numerous opportunities for growth in leadership.

3 Continuing Education Opportunities
FREE online CE programs on topics including: Writing Strong Abstracts Chronic Heart Failure Nutrition & Exercise Depression & CVD Angina Anticoagulation Behavior Change Elevated TG & Low HDL Live events including: PCNA Fall and Spring Learning Series PCNA Annual Symposium PCNA offers many ways for health care professionals to earn continuing education. There are more than a dozen free online programs offering more than 30 CEs. We host an Annual Symposium, which, in 2017, will be held in Denver, CO. Each year, we also bring half-day regional fall and spring programs to our chapters, which are free to participants.

Join your PCNA Chapter Leadership Team Get Involved! Visit our Member Center, Get Involved webpage to learn about different leadership opportunities Enhance your public speaking skills by presenting to nurses or the general public at PCNA programs NEW There are many opportunities for our members to fine tune their leadership skills within PCNA. With over 31 chapters nationwide, our nurses can help promote CVD prevention at the local level by becoming a chapter leader. PCNA recently created a get involved page listing different leadership opportunities. These include projects, special events, chapters, committees, abstracts and awards, and communication! Also, our leaders are often called upon to give presentations to fellow nurses and the general public.

8 Available in Spanish PCNA has developed many tools for health care providers to use in their clinical practice and with patients. These tools cover topics such as national guidelines, antiplatelet therapy, hypertension, risk factors, medication adherence and much more. 10 How to Receive CE Certificate
Be sure that you signed and provided your on the sign in sheet at the registration table. This list will be sent to the National Office. Once the list is received, an will go out to all attendees with instructions on how to obtain your CE.
