Units of Measure Algebra 1

Activator Bell Work Simplify 𝟑 𝟓 ∗𝟐 𝟖
Although our number system is based on 10, some items are grouped by 12, such as 12 eggs in a dozen. When it comes to pricing 12 is a more practical number than because it has more factors. The factors of 12 are 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, and 12, while factors of 10 are just 1, 2, 5, and 10. Because of this, commercial items are often counted in multiples of 12. For example: 12 items = 1 dozen 12 dozen = 1 gross 12 gross = 1 great gross Problem: How many dozens are in a great gross? How many items are in a great gross? Simplify 𝟑 𝟓 ∗𝟐 𝟖

Standard MGSE9-12.N.Q.1 Use units of measure (linear, area, capacity, rates, and time) as a way to understand problems: a. Identify, use, and record appropriate units of measure within context, within data displays, and on graphs; b. Convert units and rates using dimensional analysis (English-to-English and Metric-to-Metric without conversion factor provided and between English and Metric with conversion factor); c. Use units within multi-step problems and formulas; interpret units of input and resulting units of output.

Learning target I can convert units and rates using dimensional analysis. I can use units with multi-step problems and formulas.

I - Do

I - Do 1. Convert 13 feet per second to miles per hour.

I - Do 2. Convert 40 miles per hour to feet per second.
