Primary 1 Class Newsletter
Term 4 I can’t believe this will be the final newsletter of Primary 1. Where has the time gone? The class has settled into the new campus and it feels as though we have been here all along. The pupils will have an opportunity to meet their Primary 2 teacher on the 26th June and spend the afternoon in their new classroom. I would just like to thank you for your continued support throughout the year, especially with change of campus. As always, if there are any concerns please feel free to speak to me at the end of the day or request an appointment through the office. G McLaren Maths This term we will be focussing on measure and using some different resources to do so. We will also be asking questions and making simple graphs to show the information. We have been learning how to tell o’clock on analogue and digital clocks. Please ask me to show you this at home! Language We now know all of the single sounds and lots of double sounds. We will be using what we know to write some words by ourselves when writing our news and stories. We will developing on our listening and talking skills when working in small groups. We are making lots of progress with our reading and will be focussing on reading words without sounding them out all the time. Topic Our topic this term will be our local environment. We will be learning about what we can do to take care of where we live and animals which are endangered. We will also be learning about plants and what they need to grow. Library Book Bags Our library day is a Thursday. Could you please make sure all book bags are returned on that day to allow your child to choose a new book. There is a small booklet inside which should be completed with your child. This lets us know what they thought of the book. Homework Thank you for the feedback regarding the different styles of homework. To try and suit everyone, I have created a homework grid which will feature two maths, two language and two HWB tasks. The tasks will be relevant to what we have been recently learning. This will be issued at the start of the week and will last two weeks. One task from each column should be completed each week. Reading will continued to be issued every second day. Did you know? Grapes can be easily swallowed by young children. If you are giving your child grapes, strawberries etc. for their snack, could you please make sure you cut them length wise to avoid choking. Thank you.
