Servants - NT:1401 doulos (doo'-los); from NT:1210; a slave (literal or figurative, involuntary or voluntary; frequently, therefore in a qualified sense of subjection or subserviency):- bond (-man), servant.

Zechariah 12:10 "And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn. NKJV

2 Timothy 2:11 This is a faithful saying: For if we died with Him, we shall also live with Him. 12 If we endure, we shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us. NKJV

Patmos – 36 mi SW of Miletus. Island has 25 mile circumference. Bare, mountainous terrain.

24. John sets the Stage
Revelation 1:9 I, John, both your brother and companion in the tribulation and Kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was on the island that is called Patmos for the Word of God and for the testimony of Jesus Christ. 10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord's Day, and I heard behind me a loud voice, as of a trumpet, 11 saying, "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last," and, "What you see, write in a book and send it to the seven churches which are in Asia: to Ephesus, to Smyrna, to Pergamos, to Thyatira, to Sardis, to Philadelphia, and to Laodicea.” NKJV
Matthew 28:1-7, the day Jesus arose from the grave.
Acts 20:7, when New Testament Christians met.
I Corinthians 16:1-2, when the New Testament church took up a collection.

25. John sets the Stage
Revelation 1:9 I, John, both your brother and companion in the tribulation and Kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was on the island that is called Patmos for the Word of God and for the testimony of Jesus Christ. 10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord's Day, and I heard behind me a loud voice, as of a trumpet, 11 saying, "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last," and, "What you see, write in a book and send it to the seven churches which are in Asia: to Ephesus, to Smyrna, to Pergamos, to Thyatira, to Sardis, to Philadelphia, and to Laodicea.” NKJV
Alpha was the first letter of the Greek alphabet, and Omega was the last.
Jesus is saying He is the First and the Last in a different way, thus claiming uniqueness and exclusivity.

Biblion, diminutive form of Biblos, properly the inner bark of the papyrus plant, thus a sheet or scroll of writing.
Biblos = Book. <Biblos  BIBLE> Biblion = Bill, book, scroll, or writing.
Egypt held the market for papyrus (grows along the Nile), but parchment (prepared animal skin) was developed in Pergamum, one of the very cities addressed by Jesus.
Papyrus was typically glued together to make a scroll, but books (as we know them) existed at the time and were becaming increasingly popular.

27. Lord Jesus, King of kings
Revelation 1:12 Then I turned to see the voice that spoke with me. And having turned I saw seven golden lampstands, 13 and in the midst of the seven lampstands One like the Son of Man, clothed with a garment down to the feet and girded about the chest with a golden band. 14 His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes like a flame of fire; 15 His feet were like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace, and His voice as the sound of many waters; NKJV

Exodus 25:31 "You shall also make a lampstand of pure gold; the lampstand shall be of hammered work. Its shaft, its branches, its bowls, its ornamental knobs, and flowers shall be of one piece. 32 And six branches shall come out of its sides: three branches of the lampstand out of one side, and three branches of the lampstand out of the other side. 33 Three bowls shall be made like almond blossoms on one branch, with an ornamental knob and a flower, and three bowls made like almond blossoms on the other branch, with an ornamental knob and a flower — and so for the six branches that come out of the lampstand. 34 On the lampstand itself four bowls shall be made like almond blossoms, each with its ornamental knob and flower. 35 And there shall be a knob under the first two branches of the same, a knob under the second two branches of the same, and a knob under the third two branches of the same, according to the six branches that extend from the lampstand. 36 Their knobs and their branches shall be of one piece; all of it shall be one hammered piece of pure gold. 37 You shall make seven lamps for it, and they shall arrange its lamps so that they give light in front of it. 38 And its wick-trimmers and their trays shall be of pure gold. 39 It shall be made of a talent of pure gold, with all these utensils. 40 And see to it that you make them according to the pattern which was shown you on the mountain. 29. Lord Jesus, King of kings
Revelation 1:12 Then I turned to see the voice that spoke with me. Stars = angels of the churches. Lampstands = the churches.

30. Lord Jesus, King of kings
Revelation 1:16 He had in His right hand seven stars, out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword, and His countenance was like the sun shining in its strength. 17 And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead… NKJV
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. NKJV
Hebrews 4:11 Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience. 12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account. Rev 2:12 …'These things says He who has the sharp two-edged sword: NKJV
Rev 2:16 Repent, or else I will come to you quickly and will fight against them with the sword of My mouth. NKJV  More on the Sword from Isaiah

31. Isaiah 49:1 "Listen, O coastlands, to Me, and take heed, you peoples from afar! The Lord has called Me from the womb; from the matrix of My mother He has made mention of My name. 2 And He has made My mouth like a sharp sword; in the shadow of His hand He has hidden Me, and made Me a polished shaft; in His quiver He has hidden Me." 3 "And He said to me, 'You are My servant, O Israel, in Whom I will be glorified.' 4 Then I said, 'I have labored in vain, I have spent My strength for nothing and in vain; yet surely My just reward is with the Lord, and My work with My God.'" NKJV

32. Lord Jesus, King of kings
Revelation 1:16 He had in His right hand seven stars, out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword, and His countenance was like the sun shining in its strength. 17 And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead… NKJV
Jesus was terrifying to behold. While Jesus’ earthly presence may not have been imposing, His spiritual presence is overwhelming. Consider: Daniel 7:9-10; 10:4-7, Revelation 19:11-16; 14:1-2, and Ezekiel 43:2.
While much of the world believes that angels are cute little beings with a low-powered but accurate bow, this is not at all how the Bible portrays them.
Standing before the spiritual Jesus often had people falling down in terror, Daniel 8:17.

33. Lord Jesus, King of kings
Revelation 1:17 And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But He laid His right hand on me, saying to me, "Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last. 18 I am He Who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death. NKJV
Matt 14:25 Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea. 26 And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, "It is a ghost!" And they cried out for fear. 27 But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, "Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.“ NKJV

34. Lord Jesus, King of kings
Revelation 1:17 And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But He laid His right hand on me, saying to me, "Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last. 18 I am He Who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death. NKJV
Jesus demands exclusivity, Isaiah 44:6, Revelation 22:13.
John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” NKJV

35. Lord Jesus, King of kings
Revelation 1:17 And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But He laid His right hand on me, saying to me, "Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last. 18 I am He Who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death. NKJV
The process of death, and the place of the dead.
Keys mean authority. Open and shut.
This is the beginning of Eternal Life!  Romans 6

36. Romans 6:1 What shall we say then
Romans 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? 2 Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? 3 Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? 4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, 6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. 7 For he who has died has been freed from sin. 8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, 9 knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. NKJV

37. Lord Jesus, King of kings
Revelation 1:19 Write the things which you have seen, and the things which are, and the things which will take place after this. 20 The mystery of the seven stars which you saw in My right hand, and the seven golden lampstands: The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands which you saw are the seven churches. NKJV
Matthew 5:14 "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in Heaven. NKJV
