The actual date that Samuel de Champlain was born is unknown. Some sources say 1567 and He was born in Brouage, France. He grew up very poor for that time but grew wealthy later on.

Samuel de Champlain sailed for the country of France. He began sailing in 1603, financed by King Louis XIII. He was sent to Canada in order to establish a colony and to establish a fur trade. He made a total of 21 voyages in his lifetime.

Champlain discovered the inner parts of the St. Lawrence river and founded cities for France. He also discovered a body of water he named after himself. This influenced the world greatly because he made the first accurate map of the Canadian coast.
