1 How to write a Book Review

2 Readers don’t have to know everything that happens in your book, or all of your reasons for liking it. Try to say enough so other students can decide if they want to read it themselves.

3 These questions should be answered in your review:
What is the title of the book? Who is the author of the book? What is the book about? What is the book’s theme or message? What do I like about this book?

4 What is the title of the book?
Who is the author of the book?

5 What is the book about? What events happen in the story? Only highlight a few events – don’t give the whole story away.

6 What do I like about the book?
Does the book start in an exciting or interesting way? Does the book contain a lot of action or suspense? Does the main character show courage or strength? Does the book end in a surprising way?

7 What is the book’s theme?
What message about life is the author trying to make? How do you know that this is the message?
