Provides knowledge, values, and skills related to the broad profession Prepares students for entry into the concentrations

MSW Program: Admissions and Application Admissions Criteria: All Evidence of aptitude for graduate study (GPA for last 60 credit hours in undergraduate program and GPA for any graduate courses) Liberal arts base (with specific need for: undergraduate preparation in human biology, political science, and writing) Must be completed before students start the MSW program Work and life experience Personal maturity Leadership ability

16 Admissions Criteria: Advanced-standing Programs
MSW Program: Admissions and Application Admissions Criteria: Advanced-standing Programs B.S.W. degree from a CSWE accredited program within six years of application Overall undergraduate GPA of 3.0 No more than one BSW course below a B (Any BSW course below a B will require retaking an equivalent course in the MSW curriculum)

One of the three letters of reference must be from the applicant’s BSW field instructor or faculty liaison Diversify your letters of recommendation

Formal Organized Articulate Read carefully and answer all questions, using outline provided Recommend using headings

Can be done electronically Professional and/or academic No personal references Completed on WMU School of Social Work forms only

23 Liberal Arts Requirements
You will need a copy of your own transcripts to review and document Review each requirement Document the university, course # and course name for each requirement. May be admitted without completing all LA requirements Must complete them before start program

24 Application Completed
All materials must be received by the deadline or will not be considered for admission That means the social work application, all 3 references, completed statement, resume, field application (if appropriate), WMU application, and MSW application fee

25 Admissions Decisions Please check status on-line We aim for 6-8 weeks
Advanced-standing: Early March Full-time and Extended-study: Applications received by February 15 & March 15, 2018: early May Applications received after March 15, 2018: as space is available

Academic Year Rates: Full appointment: $10, stipend + $3, tuition for 20 hours/wk Half appointment: $5, stipend + $1, tuition for 10 hours/wk Application will be after admissions decision
