1 Founder of Classical Conditioning
Ivan Pavlov By: Ellen Nesbitt

2 Backround Ivan Pavlov was born on September 26, He died February 27, 1936, in Russia. He went to church school, and then went on to theological seminary. However, it raised quite a scandal in the community because Pavlov gave up religon to devote his life to science. His area of study was conditioning, and his perspective was behaviorism.

3 What Pavlov Is Known For
Ivan Pavlov is famously known for his dog experiment, in which he discovered classical conditioning. Every time he would feed the dogs, he’d ring a bell and give them meat powder. They would then salivate over the food. He started to ring the bell without the food, and found that the dogs still salivated. From this conclusion he realized that the dogs related the bell with as food, and would salivate over what is called the conditional response (the bell)

4 Other Notable Accomplishments
Pavlov is also known for winning the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1904, as well as being given an honorary doctorate degree from Cambridge University Personal Feelings - I feel as though Pavlov did a lot for the psychological community, even though he himself was not a psychologist. I think what he proved with the dog experiment was really relevant to all of us, because that method is used a lot even now. Do you think that it’d be okay to use Pavlov’s method that he used with the dogs, on kids/people? In other words, do you think this is an ethical method for people?
