They trusted in their name v17
The Messiah came from the tribe of Judah Gen 49v10
They’d been protected and preserved by God
They thought they were chosen cos they were better
Salvation is all of God and nothing from you Eph 2v8-9, Jn 6v65, 1 Jn 4v19, Rom 9v11-12, Jn 15v16
Don’t trust in the name ‘Christian’, trust in the Name of Christ
Following Jesus is a partnership

They trusted in having the Law v17
‘We have the Law so God accepts us, loves us, favours us’
They trusted in their knowledge v18
They taught those who didn’t know v19
Pride made them arrogant, ‘superior’ teachers v20, 1 Cor 8v1-2
Knowledge is no good if you don’t live it out & love it out
It’s not what you know, it’s Who you know & Who you live for
You’ll never really understand God’s truth until you do it

Christ is all the confidence you need
