7 2019 WSJ - BSA Contingent Adult Troop/Crew Leader Qualifications
Personal leadership qualities of a unit’s leadership team are some of the most important factors in effective administration of the Jamboree Good judgement and sensible controls will help make many regulations unnecessary Unit leadership should: Maintain policies and coordinate efforts with all other unit leaders Assist the unit’s youth leadership to ensure fulfillment of their duties Accompany the unit to and from the Jamboree, and be responsible at all times for the proper behavior and conduct of the unit, as they follow the code of conduct Be collectively responsible for the health, safety, and morale of the unit Cooperate with BSA Contingent Management Team and the Jamboree Host Committee at all times Note: Before applying, applicants are asked to review the general qualifications and selection criteria. In that numerous applicants are anticipated; if they do not meet most of the criteria, and are not selected for a unit leader position, they may desire to consider applying for an International Service Team position.

11 International Service Team (IST) Positions
Definition of IST at 24th WSJ from News Bulletin #1 “In order to make a jamboree happen, about 9,000 people are needed to serve on the International Service Team. Scouts who are at least 18 years of age at the start of the jamboree are welcome to join the IST.” “IST members should be able to communicate in English and/or French, and be ready to perform any tasks necessary for the jamboree. In addition, they must attend the jamboree as part of a national contingent.” BSA Contingent has initial target of up to 2,700 ISTs To provide 2,700 qualified ISTs, we’ll likely have to recruit 3,000+ Proposed quotas have not been assigned to Regions Ultimate selection for IST positions is responsibility of Host Committee

12 International Service Team (IST) Process
Express interest to National/Region/Area/Council WSJ leadership Once BSA Contingent Registration site opens, register and select their top three volunteer job preferences Catalogue of IST jobs with descriptions will be provided ISTs should pay close attention to indicating any specific qualifications and/or key positions held in prior Jamborees i.e. medical quals, specific certifications, subcamp leadership etc. IST application will go through normal council and NSO (BSA Contingent) approval process Completed/approved IST registrants will be placed in queue for selection by appropriate staff member If IST not selected for 1st choice, then will be looked at for 2nd choice, and/or 3rd choice Once IST selected, will be contacted by WSJ Planning team with offer for acceptance
