2 Basic windmill design with blade adaptations.
Design Overview Basic windmill design with blade adaptations. Materials Cardboard box 2 Dowel Rods 1 Sheet of Balsa Wood Cardstock Packing Tape Electrical Tape 1000 ft. of 30 Gauge Magnetic Wire 4 Two inch Bar Magnets 1 Extremely Large Rock Easy to make, inexpensive, and light

3 The Windmill The body is very basic just to hold the blade part of the windmill. The double pinwheel blades are used to catch the optimum amount of wind produced from the fan.

4 The Generator We worked through several adaptations of a homemade electric generator….. But we finally settled on the most basic design because it worked consistently

5 Efficiency Calculations
Theoretical Power(watts) = .5* (rho)*area*(velocity)3 = .5 *(1.225 kg/m3 )(п(0.1524)2 m3)*(8.9408m/s)3 = 31.9 Watts Actual Power = Current*Volts = .5 amps*4.4 volts = Watts Efficiency = Actual___x 100 Theoretical = 6.89%

6 Issues Finding necessary materials quickly enough
Reliability of materials

7 Conclusions Buying materials early is better than waiting until they’re all gone We learned a lot about how generators work Our team worked really well together and had a blast This project was super fun and educational
