8 Group question (Wed afternoon)
What do we need to do to understand / generate a common understanding on what is and implement inclusive green growth (at cluster level) Through the landscape / multi-sectoral land use planning approach what are the key 3-4 critical issues that need to be addressed to deliver / scale up inclusive green growth (at cluster level) What existing initiatives can we build upon? 2 swahili speaking group, 2 english speaking group

9 Thursday morning Building on the existing initiatives identified and in order to address the XXX issues: What key stakeholders need to be involved What key tasks need to be undertaken (practices) How can we use those to influence policy

10 Breakout Group #2 31 October – 4 November Iringa, Tanzania

11 Inclusive green growth + implement
Process that involves all stakeholders (farmers, communities, large-sacle investors) Environment that sustains socio-economic development without affecting the ecosystem -eg. District ADP – soya production (intercropping and crop rotation improves soil quality, market readily available for Silverland, production of quality approved seeds for potatoes) and CDF – involvement of social groups, such as women groups, village councils involved in planning Existing: Environmental and Social Feeder Groups to the Green Growth reference Group (What are the next steps in implementing the green print?

12 Inclusive green growth + implement
Laws and policy (collaborative actors/platforms to address challenges/constraints, setting indicators for achievement) -political will to implement -Incentives for all actors to invest in the landscape approach cost benefits -Non re-investment from sectoral contributions (eg. Crops sales?) -Interactive links/integration of policies Enhancing learning platforms -SH forum to address constraints facing all levels of the sector to inform policies and strategies -Climate smart agriculture alliance

13 Critical issues Reviewing of the policy (eg.Wetlands defined differently in agriculture and water) Sustainable livelihoods (define inclusiveness scales and alternatives) Clarify roles and responsibilities of all actors in the supply chain (Monitoring framework (incl. learning) Efficiency of supply chain and scaling up (optimizing land use) Coordination of SHs at different levels Lack of infrastructure

14 Breakout Group #3 IGG local community group
31 October – 4 November Iringa, Tanzania

15 1. What do we need to understand/generate a common understanding on what is Inclusive green growth (at a cluster level) -IGG it is the economic initiatives which is seeking to accelerate the economic growth which is both environmentally sustainable and socially inclusive. - Inclusive green growth will not happen on its own, deliberate policy and investment decisions need to be taken at all levels, local , cluster to global, to ensure that economic growth is in fact green and inclusive .

16 Inclusive Green growth can contribute to growth through four effects:
-an input effect (increasing production factors), an efficiency effect (bringing production closer to the production frontier), a stimulus effect (stimulating the economy in times of crisis), and an innovation effect (accelerating development and adoption of technologies).

17 2. Through landscape approach/Multisectoral land use planning approach what are key critical issues needs to be addressed to deliver/scale IGG Involvement of all stakeholders on landscape approach as IGG mechanism Financial mechanism facilitation to actors of IGG Intergrated resources assessment .

18 To address IGG on which scale
1. Enviromentally Improved environment 2. Economically Increase in factors of production (physical capital, human capital, and natural capital) Accelerated innovation, through correcting market failures in knowledge Enhanced efficiency, through correcting non-environmental market failures and influencing behavioR

19 3. Socially -Need to understand social cultural and ecological issues in the landscape Increased resilience to natural disasters, commodity price volatility, and economic crises Job creation and poverty reduction

20 3. Existing Initiatives can we build upon
Integrated Conservation and Development Projects/plans /initiatives Collaborative management, community forest, joint forest management Stakeholders LUP e.g per village/district, IWRP (Upstream-downstream), Katuma catchment Community based natural resource management initiatives People became a center of development for both conservation and livelihood development processes

21 Seeking for more effectively integrated natural resource planning that links grass-roots and community based initiatives at site specific level with broader landscape or ecosystem level Integrating resource potentials, opportunities and people needs with other landscape factors under good governance Linking vertical and horizontal interventions to ensure sustainable use of resources for multiple stakeholders
