3 Dress Code for Graduation
Gentlemen will wear a collared shirt and tie, slacks and dress shoes. No t- shirts, No polo shirts, No jeans, No tennis shoes, No flip flops or slide-ins, No white socks – NO EXCEPTIONS!! Ladies will wear appropriate dress for a ceremony with dress shoes. (Think twice about those high heels – there are stairs!) No tennis shoes, No flip-flops or slide-ins – NO EXCEPTIONS!!

4 Graduation Do’s and Don’ts
The graduation is a respectful ceremony where your parents can rejoice and celebrate your accomplishment with you and your classmates. We want to end this wonderful journey together, but know that you are NOT required to participate in the ceremony. Students who participate in the ceremony are expected to abide by these rules SENIOR REPORTING TIME: Seniors are to report to the UTEP Don Haskins Center promptly at 12:30pm on Friday, June 2, 2017 on the second floor above the tunnel inside the Don Haskins Center. Parents and guest are not allowed to wait in the designated area for graduates. A final roll will be taken at 1:30pm. ANY SENIOR NOT PRESENT IN TIME FOR THE ROLL CALL WILL HAVE THEIR DIPLOMA REMOVED FROM STAGE. PROCESSIONAL: The processional (march into the Don Haskins Center) will begin promptly at 2:00pm. Once the march-line has been set candidates for graduation cannot leave the line for any reason. Once at the designated seat you are not to leave your seat.

6 Graduation Do’s and Don’ts
We will respect all our speakers. Under no circumstances will we disrespect the ceremony by talking, laughing or playing around. Students or audience members who disrupt the ceremony will be escorted out. Remember this ceremony is a privilege – Bulldogs are always respectful. Parents remember that we are calling out student names at a fast pace. While celebrating your child's success is important remember excessive yelling can cause other parents not to hear their child’s name. Under no circumstances will you deface the cap or gown. You cannot decorate the cap or gown in any way – it is already beautiful! Should anyone show up to the ceremony with a defaced cap or gown, the Herff-Jones representative will be readily available to sell you another cap and/or gown. Absolutely no facial piecing(s) allowed! Students with facial piercing(s) will be asked to throw it away – please keep it at home for these 2 hours.

7 Graduation Do’s and Don’ts
Men will wear a collared shirt, no polos. Tie, slacks and dress shoes are required. No t-shirts, No jeans, No tennis shoes, No flip flops – NO EXCEPTIONS!! Ladies will wear appropriate attire for a ceremony with dress shoes. (Think twice about those high heels – there are stairs and you will be standing for about 2 hours) You will not be able to carry your purse. No tennis shoes, No flip flops, No corsages - NO EXCEPTIONS!!  The dress code is non-negotiable. All students will be searched for contraband. THE DON HASKINS CENTER DOES NOT ALLOW BALLONS, STROLLERS, OR NOISEMAKERS. DO NOT BRING THESE TO the ceremony. The graduates will not be allowed to take anything from anyone in the audience!

9 Student Discipline Final 10 Weeks of school
From the Student Code of Conduct Pg 55: Students placed in a Disciplinary Alternative Education Program are prohibited from attending or participating in school-sponsored or school-related extracurricular and non-curricular activities during the period of placement. WHAT THIS MEANS: Any student sent to KEYS/DAEP (District Alternative Education Programs) during the final 10 – weeks of school WILL NOT be allowed to participate in graduation ceremonies or senior activities the last week of school. Any student that receives a Discipline Referral, that would have led to a student being sent to KEYS/DAEP (District Alternative Education Programs), within the last two weeks of school WILL NOT be allowed to participate in graduation ceremonies or senior activities the last week of school.

10 STUDENTS THAT OWE MONEY
ANY STUDENT OWING MONEY TO the school or one of its organizations will not be allowed to walk during the ceremony. Senior students and their parents are responsible for checking to see if the student owes any money Check with the club sponsor or athletic coach For both present and past activities Check with the business office

11 CAPS and gown This year the cap and gown is different than it has been in the past few years. A new cap and gown must be purchased through Herff jones All senior students have been given the information.

12 TSI TESTING 11th / 12th Grade Students sign up in the go Center
10th graders will have taken the TSI in their financial literacy classes TESTING DATES are Go Center – We have testing every other Wednesday Spaces are limited to 28 per session EdmenTum prep available for all students students who retest must complete 20 hours of edmentum review before signing up for A tsi TEST NEW TESTERS must complete APPLY TEXAS and the PAAM (PRE-Assessment activity MODULE) NO COST for students who test at SHS; if taken at epcc, the cost is $30

13 Loss of Credit Deadline for completion of contacts from school years prior to is quickly approaching. Any outstanding LOC contracts not completed prior to the deadline will result in delayed graduation. Contracts with completed hours must be turned in for processing by March 27th, 2017 by 4:30pm. Deadline for Fall 2016 contracts will be May 1st, Contracts with completed hours must be turned in for processing by May 1st, 2017 by 4:30pm. Any student planning to graduate this May 2017, who may be in a Loss of Credit situation for Spring 2017 MAY begin working on Loss of Credit hours from this point forward (March 9, 2017). Students must not continue to be absent as they will jeopardize their graduation. March 13-17, 8-4, Bulldog Center for LOC hours. (up to 40 for the week)

14 LOC contract Abide by deadlines. Turn LOC Contracts into the Attendance Office. Complete all indicated hours on contract. All contracts must have PARENT SIGNATURE in order to receive credit. Make copies of your hours completed for your records.

15 Loss of Credit Reminders for students
Counselors have scheduled meetings with seniors Continue to “clear” your LOC contract(s) DO NOT WAIT TILL THE LAST MINUTE DO NOT get any more LOC contracts! You are in control of your ATTENDANCE DO NOT BE TRUANT….GRADUATE!
