1 5th Grade Keyboarding Classroom Rules
Mrs. Cegers-Coleman Room 1182 Ruth Doyle Middle School 800 Padgett Road Conway, AR I liked typing when I was in school. Some students feel the same way. Other students say the class is boring. We all have likes and dislikes, but regardless of our feelings about them, rules are expected to be followed, or consequences occur.

2 In addition to all rules listed in the Ruth Doyle Middle School handbook, the following are classroom rules for Computerized Keyboarding BE PREPARED BE POLITE BE POSITIVE

3 BE PREPARED Bring all required materials ready to use in class which includes your name tag student planner keyboarding section in your binder clean notebook paper any keyboarding papers a pencil or pen Be in your seat and ready to begin working when the tardy bell rings

4 BE POLITE Communicate by listening to others without interrupting.
Raise your hand to question or respond. Speak clearly. Respect others. Be kind. Keep your hands, feet, and other objects to yourself.

5 BE POSITIVE DO YOUR BEST! Be willing to change habits
Be persistent and diligent Make good choices Be a WINNER!

6 CONSEQUENCES 1st Violation: Verbal Warning
2nd Violation: Student/Teacher Conference 3rd Violation: Parent Contact (RDMS Classroom Discipline Report or Discipline Write-up and/or phone call) 4th Violation: Office Referral (Discipline Referral form) Frequency of violations will be documented.  SEVERE VIOLATION: Immediately sent to office. 

7 REWARD FOR APPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR
CONSTRUCTIVE FREE TIME!

8 INTERNET USAGE Internet usage is at the discretion of Mrs. Cegers-Coleman and must be directly related to a keyboarding assignment, unless she gives you specific permission to do otherwise. Mrs. Cegers-Coleman’s web site contains several resources we may use in class, like link to eSchool (HAC), portaportal, and sites for more typing practice, for example.

9 Cell Phone Guidelines Cellular phones and other electronic equipment must be turned off from first bell to the last bell of the day UNLESS by teacher directive. If they are allowed to use their cell phone it should be for academic purposes only. Cell Phone ringing in the classroom 1st time-Teacher Warning (student should turn phone off) 2nd Time-Office Referral Using cell phone for non-academic reasons (texting, listening to music, etc.) 1st time- immediate office referral
