And He said to them, “Follow Me [as My disciples, accepting Me as your
Master and Teacher and walking the same path of life that I walk],
and I will make you fishers of men (Matthew 4:19)

There are two basic patterns for discipleship and all disciples
must conform to these patterns.
The first is the pattern of doctrine (right thinking),
and the second is the pattern of behaviour (right living)…
All disciples of Jesus Christ are to be conformed to two patterns
to achieve Christlikeness.

Hold on to the pattern of wholesome teaching you learned from me —
a pattern shaped by the faith and love that you have in Christ Jesus.
Through the power of the Holy Spirit who lives within us,
carefully guard the precious truth that has been entrusted to you.
(2 Timothy 1:13-14)
Dear brothers and sisters, pattern your lives after mine,
and learn from those who follow our example. (Philippians 3:17)

As the deer longs for streams of water, so I long for you, O God. (Psalm 42:1)
Is this true? Do we long after him? Are we seeking him as though we were thirsty?

Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.
(Matthew 6:21)
“No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other;
you will be devoted to one and despise the other.
You cannot serve God and be enslaved to money. (Matthew 6:24)

And I will give them singleness of heart and put a new spirit within them.
I will take away their stony, stubborn heart and give them a tender,
responsive heart. (Ezekiel 11:19)
Teach me your ways, O Lord, that I may live according to your truth!
Grant me purity of heart, 
so that I may honour you.
(Psalm 86:11)
