Flag Project
2
Albania : Vertical Symmetry
Red represents the blood shed during the fight for independence. According to legend Albanians are descended from the eagle, which is the national emblem.
3
Argentina: Translation
The blue and white colors were chosen by Manuel Belgrano, the leader of the Argentinian revolution against Spain, and represent the blue sky parting to reveal white clouds, as is said to have happened when the Liberation demonstration began in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on May 25, 1810.
4
Quebec: Reflection It's a modern version of the old French-Canadian flag known as the Fleurdelyse. The white cross on a blue field recalls an ancient French military banner, and the four (4) fleur-de-lys (flowers) are symbolic of France.
5
Cape Verde : Rotational Symmetry
The rectangle of the flag is seen as a large blue field symbolizing the infinite space of the sea and sky. The ten yellow stars represent the 10 islands. The circle of the stars symbolizes the Cape Verdean Nation and its unity. The circle in a certain sense, is the world to which we are opened and that is opened to us; is the line of horizon which limits our freedom, that is the world map, but is also the mariner's compass and the helm of the navigators. The strips are the road to the construction of the country. The blue is the sea and the sky. The white is the peace we want. The red is our effort.

Hong Kong : Rotation A red flag bearing a white flower called the Hong Kong Orchid Tree

Reflection Questions What Geometry skills are used for the project?
Who would use these skills outside of class? Explain how. How does this project demonstrate your knowledge of geometry as well as a paper pencil test for the chapter? Does the project address the entire chapter or just one skill learned in the chapter?

Reflection Paragraph 1.For this project you have to use transformations and their compositions to make connections between geometry and applications. You have to know the difference between translations, rotations, and reflections. Also you have to know the significance of geometry and that it was made for a variety of purposes. 2.Any artistic person would use these skills. Artists draw different shaped and they would have to know the difference in them. 3.It shows that you know how to identify each transformation the correct way. Also this project does address the entire chapter.

Project (50 points) Create a presentation similar to what you see in this slides. It should include the following: 1. 4 flags that shows the transformations; identify all the transformations in each flag: reflection, rotation, translation. Include also the symmetry (vertical and horizontal) if there is. 2. Information about the flag. Rubrics: 1. Correct identification of the transformations ( 30 points). 2. Understandability/Clarity of the description of the transformations and information about the flags (15 points). 3. Artistic presentation(5 points) Due on June 29th or 30th. Send
