1 Warm-up (10/13) WS 1 out, please! Consider a balloon:
What variables are always constant? Consider a balloon filled with 3.45 grams of Helium STP. What is the volume of the balloon? 14.2 L ----- Meeting Notes (10/13/17 13:59) ----- 19.3 L

2 Unit 1 Test Results! Test Corrections Unit 1
Separate paper, explain/show work for MC and Written you missed. LEARN FROM YOUR MISTAKES!

3 Try one harder! A glass coke bottle has 5.75 mL of air above the soda at a pressure of 2.50 atm and a temperature of 25.5 C. I accidentally put the coke in the freezer to cool it down and as the coke expands (because it is becoming ice!), the volume of air decreases to 1.05 mL. Assuming the temperature is C in the freezer, what is the pressure of the air in the bottle? Combined gas law!

4 “STP” Important Info! Standard Temperature and Pressure P = 1.00 atm
T = 273 K, or O °C

5 Dalton’s Law of Partial Pressure (5.5)
P total = P1 + P2 (assuming same volume of total container in each situation)

6 Vapor Pressure of H2O (watch starting at 6:23-10:00 min)

7 Vapor Pressure Two good videos:

8 Collecting gas over water (5.5)
Write an equation which shows P total: If this experiment was carried out at 24.0°C and the volume of gas collected was L at a total pressure of Torr, what was the partial pressure of hydrogen gas? P total = P water vapour + P hydrogen Answer = Torr – 22.4 Torr = Torr

9 Lab 5 work time (rest of period)
When done, two options: Work on post-lab (use Excel for calculations) Finish Day 1 WS R = Latm/molK = LkPa/molK

10 Homework Day 2 Watch this video Lab 5 Due Tuesday in class (lab book)
Follow the handout instructions Test Corrections Unit 1 Separate paper, explain/show work for MC and Written you missed. LEARN FROM YOUR MISTAKES! Chapter 5 reading: , 10.8

11 Reflection after tc turned in
Did you do better on MC or on W? What did you NOT study that you should have? What are 2 things you are going to do NOW to make sure you improve on these next tests?
