2 Vocabulary A line plot or dot plot is a visual display of a distribution of data values where each data value is shown as a dot or other mark, usually an X, above a number line. A histogram is a type of graph used to display numerical data that have been organized into equal intervals. These intervals allow you to see the frequency distribution of data, or how many pieces of data are in each interval. A box plot or box-whisker plot, uses a number line to show the distribution of a set of data by using the median, quartiles, and extreme values.
