1 Cover Picture With a High-View of the Church Acts 14:21-28 (Part 1)

2 Acts 14:21-25 21 After they had preached the gospel to that city and had made many disciples, they returned to Lystra and to Iconium and to Antioch, 22 strengthening the souls of the disciples, encouraging them to continue in the faith, and saying, “Through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God.” 23 When they had appointed elders for them in every church, having prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord in whom they had believed. 24 They passed through Pisidia and came into Pamphylia. 25 When they had spoken the word in Perga, they went down to Attalia.

3 Acts 14:26-28 26 From there they sailed to Antioch, from which they had been commended to the grace of God for the work that they had accomplished. 27 When they had arrived and gathered the church together, they began to report all things that God had done with them and how He had opened a door of faith to the Gentiles. 28 And they spent a long time with the disciples.

4 CHURCH VALUES 1. A high view of God 2. A high view of Scripture
3. A high view of the Church

5 1 TIMOTHY 1:15 It is a trustworthy statement, deserving full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, among whom I am foremost of all. HEBREWS 7:25 Therefore He [Jesus] is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.

6 25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, 26 so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, 27 that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless. EPHESIANS 5:25-27

7 2 CORINTHIANS 5:21 He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

8 JOHN 13:35 By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.

9 HEBREWS 13:7 Remember those who led you, who spoke the word of God to you; and considering the result of their conduct, imitate their faith.

10 Young Believers Need the Local Church (Acts 14:21-25)

11 THOUGHT Do not get trapped into thinking that serving God is about your own ability; rather it is about your dependability. Are you dependable to God and His people?

12 Young Believers Need the Local Church (Acts 14:21-25)
We must resolve to lead people to and lead them to obey Christ (21). We must preach Jesus (21a). We must teach people to follow Jesus (21b).

13 MATTHEW 28:19-20 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

14 Young Believers Need the Local Church (Acts 14:21-25)
We must resolve to connect people to the body of Christ (21c-25). Believers need strengthening (22a).

15 1 THESSALONIANS 3:1-3 1 Therefore when we could endure it no longer, we thought it best to be left behind at Athens alone, 2 and we sent Timothy, our brother and God's fellow worker in the gospel of Christ, to strengthen and encourage you as to your faith, 3 so that no one would be disturbed by these afflictions; for you yourselves know that we have been destined for this.

16 1 THESSALONIANS 2:13 13 For this reason we also constantly thank God that when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but for what it really is, the word of God, which also performs its work in you who believe.

17 Young Believers Need the Local Church (Acts 14:21-25)
We must resolve to connect people to the body of Christ (21c-25). Believers need strengthening (22a). Believers need encouraging (22b). Believers need leadership (23a).

18 ROMANS 12:4-5 “4 For just as we have many members in one body and all the members do not have the same function, 5 so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.”

19 Young Believers Need the Local Church (Acts 14:21-25)
We must resolve to connect people to the body of Christ (21c-25). Believers need strengthening (22a). Believers need encouraging (22b). Believers need leadership (23a). Believers need prayer (23b). Believers need reminding to hope in the Lord (23c).

20 EPHESIANS 1:22-23 22 And He [God the Father] put all things in subjection under His [God the Son’s] feet, and gave Him [Jesus] as head over all things to the church, 23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.

21 How can you be “dependable” to the Body of Christ?
Be there; be present; show up and be involved in everything you can; not simply as a spectator; ask to be a part of service, event or meeting. Read your Bible with the intention of sharing what you read with other believers for the purpose of encouragement and refinement. Pray daily for your fellow church goers; asking often what you might pray for them. Offer your help, services, time or resources to help another believer in a project. Encourage believers who are faithfully serving the church body in their efforts.
