2 Architectural Elevations
Window Types: Fixed Window Fixed windows are windows that do not open. They are often referred to as “Picture Windows” and are used to provide uninterrupted scenic views.

Window Types: Single Hung Window Moveable Sash Most common window type used in the modern construction. With a single hung window, only the lower sash is capable of being moved. Stationary Sash CLOSED OPEN

Window Types: Double Hung Window Double hung windows are made so that both sashes can be raised or lowered. Moveable Sash Moveable Sash CLOSED OPEN

Window Types: Casement Window Casement Windows are hinged on the side like a door, and are opened and closed by turning a hand crank . They may be grouped in pairs or installed individually. The casement window shown at right is a double casement. Single casement windows are also available. Operation Handle Double Casement Shown in Open Position

Stationary Sash Window Types: Sliding Window Sliding windows are commonly used where small windows that are easy to operate are required such as above a kitchen sink or above a water closet. Sliders open and close left to right, and the moveable sash slides on the inside of the stationary sash. CLOSED OPEN Moveable Sash

Window Types: Sliding Window Moveable Sash Moveable Sash Sliding windows are also available in models that have more than one moveable sash. CLOSED OPEN

Window Types: Hopper Window INTERIOR VIEW Hopper windows are hinged at the bottom and open inward into the room. These windows are frequently used in basements near the ceiling, and look out at ground level. EXTERIOR VIEW

Window Types: Awning Window Awning Windows are hinged at the top, and open outward at the bottom. They are usually opened by turning a hand crank. Awning windows work well in rainy areas because when opened, they shed water away from the window opening. Exterior View Interior View
