Systems of Equations Lesson 41: Solve by using a matrix
Texas Algebra I Systems of Equations Lesson 41: Solve by using a matrix
2
Lesson Objectives The student will be able to: (A.8.b)
Solve a system of equations by using a matrix
3
Why use a matrix to solve a system?
You can use your graphing calculator to help you solve a system. The best way to let your calculator help you is by using a matrix. EX: 2x - 3y = 4 5x + 6y = 6
4
Using a graphing calculator
EX: 2x - 3y = 4 5x + 6y = 6 Now that you have your equations entered into matrices, call the left side matrix A and the right side B (the calculator will solve for the variables. Enter your matrices into you calculator Enter The calculator will display the solution matrix
5
Another example (this method is really useful for systems with 3 or more equations!!)
2x + 3y = 12 10x +5y = 6 x – y = 2
