2 Your Task is to write a letter from a character in the film Iron Jawed Angels
Your letter should discuss some of the following things: Your opinion on the suffrage movement generally. Description of your approach to the suffrage movement and at least one action your have taken. Reasons for this approach and action. Your feelings and opinions about things that have happened during your involvement in the suffrage protest. Your opinion of other approaches to the movement other than your own and reasons for this. Looking forward to the future- what do you intended to do/want to happen?

3 Task One: Choose a Character

4 Task Two: Choose a recipient
Who you choose to write your letter TO will alter the tone and content of your letter. Consider if you are writing to: A friend or a foe? Someone who shares your opinions Someone who disagrees with your opinions A letter to the editor or newspaper A letter to the government A letter to the prison management

5 Task Three: Choosing a date
You must choose at what point in the timeline of the film/suffrage movement you are going to write your letter from. The beginning, middle or end? You must consider what things have and haven’t happened and be consistent. You must DATE your letter. The film spans from Do some research to attempt to find a roughly accurate date for your letter.

6 Task Five: Language Brainstorm
Think about the kind of language you are going to use in your letter. Does your character have strong or weak beliefs? Is your character outspoken? Are they trying to justify themselves? Who are they speaking to? Informal or formal? Make some decisions about the kind of language you are going to use. Make sure you consider the choices you have already made and how this will impact.

7 Task Four: Planning your content
Write a brief outline of the content of your letter. Structure your content into a logical order. What events and ideas are you going to discuss? Which other characters are you going to talk about?

8 Task Six: Writing your Response
