1 2.1 Solving Two-Step Equations
9/5/17

2 Essential Question: What kinds of problems need two operations?

3 To solve a two-step equation, use inverse operations.
1 - Undo adding/subtracting first 2 - Undo multiplying/dividing second Ex: x = 17

4 Example 1 (spiral): Ex: a) 3x + 7 = -2 c) 10.7 = -x – 43
b) 35 = 3 + 5x d) π‘₯ = -10

5 Student Companion p. 24, Part 1 Got it

6 Example 2 (spiral): Words οƒ  Equation

7 Student Companion p. 24, Part 2 Got it

8 When you see more than one variable on the same side of the equal sign, combine like terms to help solve. Ex: 13.6n + 12n = 128

9 Practice 5x – 3 – 2x = 6 4x + 5 – 2x = 11 3x x + 9 = 20

10 Example 3 (spiral):

11 Student Companion p. 25, Part 3 Got it
