1. The Children’s Heart Study
or Cardiac Impact Study
Along with four other cardiac centres in the UK, Great Ormond Street Hospital is conducting a research study looking at the effects cardiac surgery has on families.
Part of the study will be to review the data that are routinely collected for all children undergoing cardiac surgery with some additional information. These data will be anonymous.
Some families may be approached for more detailed information about their experiences during recovery and at home. This will be by questionnaire and can be by phone or at a clinic appointment. For those who would like to participate these questionnaires will be completed 6 weeks, 3 months and 6 months after your child’s surgery. During analyses, all answers will be anonymised.
A member of the research team may speak to you to ask if you would like to participate in this part of the study at an appropriate time after your child’s surgery.
