Presentation on theme: "Evaluating Dialogue in your One-Act"— Presentation transcript:

1 Evaluating Dialogue in your One-Act
Play Writing & Directing,

2 Switch scripts with another group that hasn’t read your play yet
You will be reading theirs & answering the following questions, and they will be evaluating yours.

3 Dialogue Questions for the playwright to ask…
How might the character’s true feelings be communicated to the audience through dialogue? Can you think of a way to say this that is truer to the character? How does each character feel about the other character? What dialogue could be cut without damaging the story? Do we know this by something he or she says? What narrative clues have been left out? Can you imagine something he or she might say or do, feeling the way she or he does? What is your favorite piece of dialogue? Why?

4 After you get your script back from the other group…
With your partner, read through the answers and evaluate what you can change in your script to make it more effective. Write a paragraph about what you need to change. Turn your notebook in so both can be graded.
