Conditional sentence type 2 or second conditional is also known as present unreal.

Second conditional is known as present unreal because it is contrary to fact in the present/future.

In second conditional the tense which is used in the if clause is the simple past, and the tense which is used in the main clause is past future tense.

If you went to bed earlier, you wouldn't be so tired.

9. Fact (true situation)
Since the second conditional is contrary to fact in the present/future, it has to have the true situation or fact. The true situation should be written in simple present.

CS: If I had enough money, I would buy a car. The true situation should be taken from if clause and it should be its contrary. TS: I do not have enough money.

Conditional sentence type 3 or third conditional is also known as past unreal.

These sentences are truly hypothetical and unreal, because it is now too late for the condition or its result to exist. There is always some implication of regret in conditional sentences type 3. The reality is the opposite of, or contrary to, what the sentence expresses.
