1 Student Leadership Y11 Prefects

2 Year Group Leadership team How to apply to be a Prefect:
Write a letter of application to your Progress Leader. The letter needs to include: Why you would like to be Form Leader What skills and qualities you can bring to the role What successful experiences you have had of leadership or working with others in the past Any other relevant information in support of your application

3 Role of the Prefect Prefect tasks:
A small group will form an editorial committee to prepare the Y11 Year book A small group will make arrangements for the end of year Prom. This will include prefects fundraising to subsidise the Year Book and Prom Individuals will be attached to Year 7 forms to help the new students settle into the school Small teams will help out with school events such as Consultation Evenings/Revision nights/Guidance evenings Prefects will be very active in fundraising for the school charity Some prefects can be involved in work for our faith in action and chaplaincy team working in school and the community to support and serve others. Some prefects can be involved in leading younger students in extra-curricular activities Some Prefects can organise assemblies, particularly for Y7 and 8 Some Prefects can organise lunch and break activities for younger students in social spaces All Prefects will take an active role in ensuring that all students can feel safe at break and lunchtimes All Prefects will take an active role in collating student voice Work together as a team on Year 11 twitter/newsletter

4 Who can become a Prefect?
Prefects are the school’s role models. If you are a student with an excellent record of behaviour, attendance, punctuality and uniform then you are a suitable candidate. However, please do not be put off from applying, if you are someone who has had problems previously in school but have worked through these and shown great improvements you may also be eligible.

5 Prefects are expected to:
Be a role model to which lower school students can look up to Meet high standards of politeness, courtesy, dress, attendance and punctuality Carry out regular duties as required this may be before, during or after school Be prepared to give up some of your free time to attend meetings at lunchtime and after school Work as part of a team – this means listening to others! You may have to work with people who are not necessarily your friends and who may not agree with your ideas

6 How to apply: How do I apply?
Complete your form electronically and it to with Prefect Application followed by your name in the subject box. OR Print off the application form, complete it, and hand it in to Mrs Penney – PA to the Principal
