9 Rules & Expectations Students will be respectful to one another, as well as respecting the property of others and school property. Students will be prepared and listen at all times. Students will strive to always do their best and to take pride in their work.

8:20 – 8:35 Students enter the room, turn in homework, unpack, and prepare for the day. Write homework in agenda books. 3. Read AR Books/Quiz.

15 Guided Reading 9:00– 9:30 then 10:00-10:30
6 Units – “give or take” 6 weeks per unit Emphasis on Comprehension and Written Responses (predictions, fact/opinion, story maps, visualization, summaries, story elements, self-questioning) Read for a Purpose: Close Reading and Text Evidence Comprehension & Vocabulary Test on Thursdays/ Fridays (every other week) that assess the comprehension skill and strategy for the week Apps: Grammar Wonderland, Reading Wonderland McGraw-Hill Reading Wonders (Elementary)

16 Reading RTI 9:30 – 10:00 RTI Intervention Groups – increase reading skills Focus on word patterns and families rather than memorization Weekly Progress Monitoring

17 Snack ( around 10:15-10:30) Students may bring a daily snack. Please try to pack healthy snacks. Water is the only liquid permitted in class. One of our classmates has a peanut allergy. All food brought into the room will be monitored by Mrs. Plews. Snacks and/or treats must not contain peanuts, nor peanut oil. Walmart and Acme have treats that are clearly marked with “peanut free” stickers.

27 “The Binder” 5 Dividers / Sections
Grammar (Weekly Phonics Words, Word Wall Words) Guided Reading (worksheets, homework) Math (tests, worksheets) Science (observation forms, quizzes) Social Studies (worksheets, tests, vocabulary) Binders will be cleaned out at the end of each marking period. Our Goal Students will stay organized and desks will remain clean. 

28 Agenda Books Students will write homework assignments in their binders each morning. **Parents, Please initial the agenda book each evening. This ensures that you have seen their homework assignment(s) and any communication that I may have written for that day.

29 Homework Given Monday – Thursday nights (usually Math and/or Reading)
Due the following day Please put name on both sides, and write as neatly as possible. Principal’s Homework – Read AR book for 30 minutes EVERY night *Please write a note if your child is struggling with an assignment. Please do not fight the “homework battle” with him/her! A note is sufficient as a complete assignment.

Statewide Assessment Given in the Spring **Third Grade is the baseline in terms of showing growth. Measures growth over the course of the school year in Reading and Math Computer based test – multiple choice AND Typed Response
