(A) Bell palsy is a clinical diagnosis
(A) Bell palsy is a clinical diagnosis. Ask the patient to smile, close eyes, raise eyebrows, and whistle or puff out the cheeks. Facial muscle paresis, facial asymmetry, drooling, widened palpebral fissure, smooth forehead, and flattened nasolabial fold are characteristic findings. (B) Complete recovery from facial palsy. These two photographs were taken 8 weeks apart in this otherwise healthy adolescent girl with Bell palsy. (Photo contributor: Binita R. Shah, MD.) Source: Chapter 13.
