Jacob Hayworth and Matthew Chaloupecky Summer Ventures in Science and Mathematics 2013 Visual and Image Processing Dr. Rahman Tashakkori, Mr. Luke Rice, Ms. Bahar Akhtar Appalachian State University

2 Space Shuttles and SpaceX
Atlantis launches for another mission Dragon docking to the ISS Falcon 9 v.1.1 ready to launch

3 What Goes into a Launch? Challenger’s fuel tank collapsed 73 seconds after liftoff Photo of a space shuttle launch taken from an airplane

4 Method To collect data for research we used the NASA website and SpaceVidCast videos.

5 Method Using this table and other information collected we were able to create many graphs in excel

12 Conclusions Using the data we collected and analyzed we found several similar trends.

13 Conclusions Speed continues to increase throughout the launch
Mass decreases linearly Individual launches have similar rates of ascension, varying on speed Total kilometers and orbits have little affect on the success of a launch
