3 A 6 Step Process for Teaching Vocabulary Terms
1) Provide a description, explanation, or example of the new term. 2) Ask students to restate the description, explanation, or example in their own words. 3) Ask students to construct a picture, symbol, or graphic representing the term or phrase. 4) Engage students periodically in activities that help them add to their knowledge of the terms in their notebooks. 5) Periodically ask students to discuss the terms with one another. 6) Involve students periodically in games that allow them to play with terms. 4 Google Drawings Allows you to play games with words (e.g. “Pictionary”) Support visual representations of vocabulary terms Allows for real-time collaboration through Google Drive Keeps a record of any visual representations that are created Can be easily shared through Google Drive

5 Google Keep Can serve as a vocabulary notebook that spans the course of the year Labels allow for categorizing and cross-curricular application of terms Students can add images and colors to their terms If students use the iOS or Android app, they can record audio as well Individual terms can be shared or sent to a Google Doc Google Keep Chrome Extension allows for adding quick items to your notebook from a web page
