Greek mythology Myths have/had several purposes: 1) Explain the creation of the world 2) To explain natural things in the world 3) To teach moral lessons 4) To explain history 5) To express wishes, fears, and desires of people

3 The Titans The 12 Titans ruled the world before the 12 Olympians. Kronos/Chronos – the ruler of the Titans and world before Zeus. Kronos feared his children; so, he ate the first 5 of them. Rhea, Kronos’ wife was sad and hid her 6th child, Zeus from Kronos. Zeus grew up to defeat his father and rescued his brothers and sisters from within his father’s stomach.
